Funding for Community-Based Research

The YCCI will fund 2 applications for community-based research projects each year.

These research projects should be directed at accumulating preliminary research data to explore the feasibility of community-based research studies involving adults and/or children to obtain sufficient data for larger, longer-term applications to NIH and other peer-reviewed funding agencies. Projects may also be directed at improving clinical study design.

This award is for primarily for faculty who are engaged or who plan to conduct community-based research who are at an early stage of their career and who do not currently hold independent ROl or equivalent support. They must be partnered with a community-based Co-Principal Investigator.

Grants will be given for one year to fund a clinical research project in the amount of $25,000.  Criteria for selection include innovation, recognition of clinical opportunities, community engagement, and translation to the community to benefit human beings.
