Community Alliance for Research & Engagement (CARE)

The Community Alliance for Research and Engagement (CARE) was established in spring 2007 as an integral component of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI).  A goal of YCCI is to translate research from “bench to bedside”; the Alliance will help to take that one step further -- translating research from “bedside to community.” 
 
The establishment of CARE at the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation provides an unprecedented opportunity to foster rigorous community-based research and to translate findings of scientific breakthrough and discovery to enhance health care. More on CARE mission and background...

CURRENT CARE ACTIVITIES:

• November 2007 - CARE Perspectives, the fresh community newlsetter from CARE released its first edition on diabetes at the Diabetes Awareness Day event. Take a look at the newsletter...
• September 12, 2007 – The CARE Research Partnership Program announced the release of a second round of community-university pilot projects. PAST CARE ACTIVITIES:

• November 12, 2007 – CARE sponsored a public event to highlight Diabetes Month. Diabetes Awareness Day was held at the Dixwell-Yale University Community Learning Center.
• July, 2007 – The CARE Research Partnership Program awarded funding to its first community-university research projects.  The research includes:
• A family-based childhood obesity prevention intervention led by Fair Haven Community Health Center and the Yale Department of Pediatrics. More on this pilot project...
• A youth violence reduction intervention coordinated by investigators from New Haven Public Schools, Community Mediation, Inc., Yale School of Public Health, and the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center. More on this pilot project...
