Assistant Professor, Diagnostic Radiology
Robert Constable, PhD
Dr. Sampath is an Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Radiology. She received her PhD in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. She completed a Fellowship in the Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics, at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health in Besthesda, MD. Dr. Sampath’s Primary focus is to develop an independent program in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (MR) research.
Dr. Sampath’s project, Non-invasive quantitative assessment of regional diastolic mechanics and hemodynamics in the left ventricle, proposes to develop a novel hybrid magnetic resonance (MR) imaging method that will provide accurate non-invasive regional quantification of diastolic mechanics and hemodynamics in the left ventricle, permitting the clinical evaluation of regional diastolic pressure volume relationships in patients with a range of cardiac disorders such as coronary artery disease, valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, and aortic stenosis which would be a significant extension to current imaging capabilities.
