Dr. Ma is assistant professor of epidemiology and public health. He received his PhD in statistics at the University of Wisconsin and was a senior fellow at the Collaborative Health Studies Coordinating Center at the University of Washington. He plans on continuing research in the area of cancer genomics and system biology.
Dr. Ma’s project, Identifying common transcriptional profiles of neoplastic tranformation and progression via integrative microarray analysis, aims to efficiently retrieve information from public microarray data warehouses and identify common cancer gene signatures, which cannot be identified from analysis of individual cancer experiments. To do this, he is developing the Integrative Threshold Gradient Directed Regularization (ITGDR) and Integrative Group Bridge (IGB) methods for integrative microarray analysis.
