Dr. Tellides is director of the cardiac surgery vascular biology and immunology laboratory at Yale School of Medicine’s Boyer Center for molecular medicine where the primary research interest is immune-mediated vascular injury and remodeling focusing on the regulation of interferon-γ production by artery-infiltrating T cells and on the mechanisms of interferon-γ responses in vascular smooth muscle cells resulting in arteriosclerosis. A renowned transplant surgeon, Dr. Tellides holds the current record for the longest-surviving heart transplant patient at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is investigator of the Interdepartmental Program in Vascular Biology and Transplantation. His research is supported by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. He has mentored 15 investigators as well as numerous residents and fellows.
