Dr. O'Malley is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Division of Substance Abuse Research in the Department of Psychiatry. She is the Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center at Yale and also served as the Steering Committee Chair of the NIAAA-funded multi-site study of Combining Medications and Behavioral Interventions for Alcohol Dependence. She is an internationally recognized expert on the treatment of alcohol and nicotine dependence. She has extensive experience in clinical trials as well as in human bio-behavioral studies. She currently holds a K05 award and is Principal Investigator of one P50 grant, a U10, an R01 and the Director of the Clinical Core of another P50 grant. She is a named mentor for five junior faculty menmbers with K awards. The Career Development Core of the Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center at Yale also funds up to five summer fellows each year, for whom she has served as a mentor for three out of the seven awardees.
