Dr. Lockwood is the Anita O'Keefe Young Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. His clinical interests include recurrent pregnancy loss, prematurity, abruption, uteroplacental vascular abnormalities and maternal thrombophilias. His research focuses on the basic mechanisms underlying the maintenance of endometrial hemostasis and the pathophysiology of abnormal uterine bleeding associated with the anovulation, myomas and long-term progestin-only contraceptive therapy. Of key interest to these studies is the identification of pathways leading to aberrant angiogenesis. Dr. Lockwood is President Nominee of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation. He has received continuous R01 funding from the NIH since 1994 and currently holds two R01s, is Principal Investigator of a K12 training program in Ob/Gyn, and has received three consecutive grants from the March of Dimes. He has mentored over 20 clinical and research post-doctoral fellows in addition to many medical students.
