Dr. Ford is Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the VA Schizophrenia Biological Research Center (SBRC), and co-Director of the Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at the VA Connecticut Healthcare Services at West Haven and at the Connecticut Mental Health Center. She is an internationally recognized expert on human electrophysiological studies of schizophrenia with a special interest in understanding the psychotic symptoms of the illness such as auditory hallucinations. She is a pioneer in the integration of spatial brain imaging measures (functional magnetic resonance imaging, fMRI) and temporal brain imaging measures (EEG). Dr. Ford has received continuous funding from NIMH since 1975, and joined the Yale faculty in 2004. She currently holds a K02 award, an R01, a VA Merit Review grant, and a NARSAD grant. She has mentored approximately 50 post-baccalaurate students, psychiatry residents, fellows, and junior faculty, many of whom have gone on to faculty positions with NIH and VA funding.
