The Yale Cancer Center and YCCI are working in close partnership to launch a statewide clinical trials network to promote innovative cancer research. This joint effort, funded in part by a grant from the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Connecticut Cancer Partnership, establishes a clinical trials network and provides infrastructure support needed to sustain it. Both centers are directing additional resources to this state-wide initiative to include the participation of private clinical oncology practices in oncology research.
The BCCC is funded in part by CCOT and is comprised of breast medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists and other breast cancer providers that focuses on: Increasing access to clinical trials; developing a task force to examine national standards for breast cancer care and guidelines for CT breast cancer practitioners; and reducing health disparities through education and outreach initiatives such as a website and conference/symposium.
This Donaghue Foundation funded project is a collaboration between the Yale Diabetes Program and the Fair Haven Community Health Center (FHCHC). Clinicians at FHCHC, which serves a predominantly Latino and low socioeconomic status urban neighborhood, have identified 2,060 minority women, under age 55, with risk factors for T2DM and their preliminary data indicates 40% of these individuals have pre-diabetes. This project will determine whether a trans-disciplinary team of Yale clinical investigators and primary healthcare providers at a community health center can effectively implement an intensive lifestyle intervention to improve the health of patients at high risk for T2DM and other clinical complications of obesity, as well as their children.
