Bright Bodies

The Bright Bodies program is an example of translating clinical research results into community benefit. By working closely with local pediatricians in the Greater New Haven area, including two major neighborhood primary care centers and a local high school, this unique program empowers inner-city youth to manage their weight by educating them about healthy food choices and coping strategies to assist them with everyday decisions that affect their weight. The program also encourages parents to be good role models and provide a home that is conducive to weight management. The four intervention pillars of this program are nutrition education, behavior modification, parent classes, and activity through exercise and games.
