Manager, Biostatistical Support Unit

Dr. Dziura’s service as a Biostatistician in the GCRC and his training in epidemiology and biostatistics at the Yale School of Public Health, make him an excellent leader for the Biostatistics Support Service unit of the ORS.  As the GCRC Biostatistician, he has provided general statistical consultation (e.g. sample size/power considerations, optimal study design, data management and analysis plans etc.) to the majority of GCRC investigators during the IRB/GCRC approval process.  He has successfully collaborated with many GCRC investigators to design and analyze their research studies, publish over 30 journal articles and secure external grant funding.  He has also been active in training young investigators both individually (having been a statistical resource for K-awardees, post-doctoral fellows, residents and Master’s students) and in classroom settings (where he has developed a graduate level course on statistics in clinical research and several workshops covering relevant statistical topics).  Dr. Dziura has also been responsible for the management of the Master’s level statisticians working in the GCRC.  His familiarity with the biostatistical and epidemiologic faculty underscores his value to serve as a point of contact for establishing collaborative relationships between clinical investigators and faculty from the Analytical Sciences Core. The expertise that Dr. Dziura provides to our investigators ensures that patients enrolled in our studies are participating in adequately powered and scientifically rigorous protocols.
